Luxford Elementary School staff, parents, and community commits to promoting and building strong parental involvement through the following activities to support the development of our young learners:
Initiatives that involve parents and families in supporting their children’s education include:
- Meet the Teacher
- Grade level Open House Sessions
- Parent workshops including topics on language arts, math, and study skills
- Parent-Teacher conferences
- Afterschool clubs
- Monthly afterschool computer access
- School assemblies
- Buddy Programs: Book Buddies, Graph Buddies(Running Day), Game Buddies (Math)
These activities will be advertised throughout the school year via the school web site, AlertNow system, and letters taken home by the students.

Parents will be provided with the results of their child’s performances as described by VBCPS Grading and Reporting Progress guidelines to assess and measure student growth. Methods will include:

- Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Standardized Test Results
- Teacher Phone Calls/Letters
- Graded Papers
The above activities are coordinated with the school’s administrative team, teachers, PTA, School Planning Council, Parental Involvement Committee, school action teams, Guidance Advisory Committee, and parent volunteers.
The effectiveness of our Parental Involvement Policy is to build a strong parental involvement in the school and will be measured on participation and parent feedback. All collected data will be used to solicit suggestions for continuous improvement. This policy will be reviewed annually by the School Planning Council. |
